Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Treadmill Thursday

Sometimes, because of a state helicopter that lands in the middle of the field, the track is closed.

This time I got advance warning, so I decided to run on the treadmill. It was pitch dark outside.

There is something meditative of the thump thump of shoes against the whir whir of the treadmill breaking the silence.

The week has been in some ways extraordinary at work. Diwali is coming up and there has been plenty on my mind.

After warming up for about a kilometre, I kept turning the speed upwards, moving eventually at a somewhat quick pace.

Strides at the end, on a treadmill, I find, can be ungainly and strange but I did get winded enough, so perhaps the job was done.
