After a few minutes of running in the dark, on the treadmill, I asked Siri to play the Emperor Concerto. I wondered where the thought came from. Simply out of nowhere. As thoughts do.
I ran slowly but I didn’t have a problem with that. It felt rhythmic and I wanted to put in a basic, easy time on feet run.
The concerto was Yundi on the piano with the Berlin Philharmonic, and while I was in my own thoughts, thinking about the day ahead, the music seemed to fill the room.
When it ended, as if on cue, the young boy jumped on the treadmill for his turn, the music changed to hip-hop, dawn changing the colour of the sky.
Just as well, I thought, settling into a circuit and resistance band workout.
