Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Off for me

I watched the young boy run on the treadmill on my off day. He ran smoothly – as kids do – and kept his form through the interval efforts.

During the repetitions, I stood behind him, toggling the speed, but standing there out of safety as he sprinted down the numbers.

So tough, he said, second guessing himself. But he got faster, that hourglass effect of tipping I can’t do this to I am doing this.

When he finished, he was red cheeked, glistening with sweat, exhilarated.

We high fived each other – on with the day ahead.
