I woke up in the morning wondering how I would end up managing the mixed interval sets ahead. Daunting and looming.
I raised my eyebrows and shook my head as I saw the track, bathed in mist, hardly a soul. After one round itself, I saw familiar faces. Ashwini, Suryansh joined me for the warm up. Ashwini led the warm up exercises and strides.
No power, he said to me when we began the strides. I nodded following him.
Kit up kar ke aate hain, said the boys, which meant they would remove their warm up jackets and tracks.
And off we went. Monu joined in as well. Repetition after repetition. It was hard as nails but we were in good spirits. We even managed to joke and laugh between the sets.
Eventually, we did better than the prescribed times. I did because of them.
When I got back home, the young boy was already on the treadmill and I stood around, watching his legs fly.
Fleet-footed comes to mind.
