Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

About time

I ran with the young boy today after a long time. Venus, or so I think, was up in the eastern sky.

It was cold and I put a gator around his neck.

Ready, I asked.

Ready, he said back. Never more a wonderful word at this time before dawn. Simply ready.

We ran up and down with ease, first silently, then chatting – geography, politics, airlines, aircraft types – a medley of conversations and fact checks.

The sky changed colours just as we were finishing up the easy time on feet run.

A gentle and quite perfect way to begin the day ahead.
