At the start line, the national anthem played. Two minutes to go. Earlier, I had warmed up with Ashwini. It was just first half marathon. I was excited for him and I felt good.
The route was simply gorgeous. Better than the famed Delhi half marathon route. Lodi Road, Tuglak Road, Rajpath. Wide avenues. The splendid architecture of the North and South blocks. India Gate. A tour of the who’s who of Central Delhi.
Even as I was breathing too hard, I noticed the splendour of my city, the beauty of New Delhi.
I was spot on at the midway point to make a personal best and perhaps a moonshot timing.
Eventually, I made personal best. Perhaps the personal best is moonshot too – at least for today it is – there is no reason to do a what if.
It’s been a long time coming baby. A long time.
