Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Aftermath Monday

Very rarely do I feel an abandonment to truly enjoy an off or rest day.

Today I did. I could enjoy it with an old fashioned or two, to have a sense of phew, that race happened, and to look forward to the next round of training with a yearning that only comes after achieving a desired outcome.

And so today, Monday – aftermath of race day Sunday – was contrasting senses – a feeling of lightness about my shoulders, a strong appetite, a visceral urgency of the body spasmodically trying to return to a normality; the latter expressed by spontaneous stretching and moaning, desirous of slumber and action alike.
