Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Back on Track

At the back straight, at the 300m line, our shadows curved around in front of us. At first, there was one. Then two. The three. Eventually more than ten shadows, dissolving into each other, shades of grey and black, moving, bouncing, disappearing at the 200m curve, round after round.

It was cold in the morning, but I was infinitely glad to be here, at home, at the track.

Suryansh, Dipasha, Monu, Khushbu, Coach Ravi, Coach Nikhil, some of the usual track family, them who I meet before dawn, them who smile and laugh, them who train day after day, them to whom, most often, I utter the first words of the day. Namaskar, hello, kaise ho, congratulations.
