Ek aur bhaiya, said Ashwini after we finished. He was sitting on the track surface, looking up at me, his face shining.
We had just finished brutal mile intervals at a pace that after yesterday’s tempo effort and this past Sunday run, felt nearly unmanageable.
We slogged through it, repetition after repetition. For each interval we started the first round faster than prescribed pace, settling into it, running as smoothly as possible, finishing, resting and ready to go again for the next one.
And so it went. A few of the middle ones dropped in pace for a few seconds, and then picked up again, before ending the last one strong.
But ek aur?
I smiled, fist bumped Ashwini and Suyansh, and exited the track to a morning sky that was changing colours to hues of blues, pinks, and violets.
