Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

At last, Ashwini

On Monday, I had messaged a couple of my track friends that I would be coming the next morning. Worryingly, Ashwini didn’t reply for a long time. Later he sent me an OK.

In the morning, driving in dense fog with my sister Roshini, I was nearly certain that none of the usual track folks would be around.

Blanketed in fog, the track looked foreboding and uninviting to say the least. At the back 100, against a fence, Ashwini was stretching.

I was thrilled to see him. A longish time on feet and some banter later, the morning felt light, easy and normal. The fog on ground was as dense as it was earlier, but my mind was clear and I was simply happy.
