Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Friday Routine is Back

At the Vasant Kunj – MG Road intersection, the sun was rising just above the tree line. Partly shrouded by clouds, the kind of clouds that children draw, a glowering orange ball in the summer sky.

1979 by Smashing Pumpkins was playing in the car. The young boy and I had already cycled through Janelle Monáe and TM Krishna.

We were returning from a Nehru Park nearly empty of runners but groups of roller blade kids racing down Niti Marg and Shanti Path.

After dodging a couple of roller blade line formations, we crossed over to Vinay Marg where all was quiet.

The morning aarti emanated from the park temple. Dogs foraged near garbage bins. Early morning walkers could be seen ambling down the park path.

A perfectly good way to get the Friday run back to routine.
