Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

From debate to on the road

When I woke up this morning, I was in two minds whether to drag myself out of bed or sleep in.

I was under slept and tired from long days to say the least. But once you wear your shorts and running t-shirt, have that espresso and make it out of the door, there is no turning back.

I’ll run slow, I shrugged to myself. At the track, practically the whole gang was warming up, ready to hit the ground. After a quick debate, we decided to head out on the road.

Pretty soon, the group split into Ashwini and Jeet leading up ahead and Suryansh, Dipasha, Khushboo, Rahul, another runner and I were running in step together.

On the way back, we talked a bit – about diet, college, running, distances, this and that. They bantered that I had been running since before they were born. Amazing, I thought. Time and life seemed to simply run away.

This is better, said Dipasha. Talking like this. Makes the run easier.

Of course. A bit of conversation. The sound of running. Laughter. A shared morning.
