Last Sunday I was travelling, and the week before was a race in Dwarka. It was good to be back at Nehru Park. Familiar terrain, faces, loops, the humdrum of any Sunday morning.
It was quiet a decade ago – even more so before that. Now there are hordes of runners. It’s a party. A mela.
Because it’s a high security zone – I hope the ‘authorities’ won’t shoo us away. There are way too many of us to just fence us in the park.
A great solution would be to get a couple of these beloved roads – Niti Marg, Shanti Path, Vinay Marg – pedestrianised for a few hours on Sunday morning. But I’m sure I think of myself and forget a million government and security problems to make that happen.
At any rate, for now, the Nehru Park area is a runners playground.
It was amazing going this morning, starting the run with the young boy, ending it solo with waves of pleasant exhaustion washing the week away.
