Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Neat Diagram

Because Lutyens Delhi is designed with roundabouts and straight roads, the run diagram after Nehru Park looks like a geometry problem.

I’ve heard of running folks who make interesting patterns with their runs. I haven’t bothered with that yet but I am sure something could be worked out. Maybe like the Vitruvian man.

I met Shikha and ran a section with her. She had finished in second place at the Ladakh ultra – 122 kilometres of madness. We talked about her race, the training, the route, that she had run in Ladakh six times including a 200 kilometre plus race. She spoke admiringly about the Ladakhi runners and once again I thought how India could be an Olympic hotbed like Kenya or Ethiopia. If only.

After we parted, I continued on my journey, running loops around Vinay Marg, Shanti Path, Niti Marg, Nyaya Marg. All these roads that are my friends. I passed runners that I acknowledged with a wave, many who I saw repeatedly, exchanging a knowing smile that we were on the same side of long run Sunday.
