I had originally decided to run the prep run at the same time as the start so I could get a feel of the weather.
But when I looked out the window around 7 AM, there were many runners out. Classic FOMO. I got ready quickly and made my way down to a cool but comfortable Boylston Avenue.
The city was electric with runners, families, organisers. Every shop, restaurant, hotel had something on for the marathon. While it’s good commerce, the evident excitement, enthusiasm and pride for the marathon was incredible and amazing.
Twenty minutes later I was done and settled to a quiet coffee at the hotel bar.
