Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

24 in the Driveway and 100 with the young girl

And that’s the way to do it.

Slept late. Woke up late. A clear dilemma. Should I go to Nehru Park and run in ever increasing morning traffic or should I just stomach it and run up and down in the driveway?

Even as I was putting my shoes on, I was undecided. Finally, saving an hours worth of driving and dodging traffic made the decision for me.

And so it was. Up and down for thirty six rounds. At least I have the luxury of this driveway.

Nearing the last 7-8k, the young girl joined me in nearly every round running anywhere between 20m and 100m with me. Pure joy. First run with her.

Her brothers were on the swings but she stood in the middle of the driveway waiting for me, running with me, holding my finger, tongue out, keeping up. Pure joy.
