Writing about Running

A diary, mostly about running, by Aseem Vadehra

Quick-ish

It was Shikha day again. I was a bit late and she had already done nearly two loops. I joined her at a comfortable pace and as is becoming recently customary, I did not look at the watch for most of the run.

We ran the familiar parallel roads of Shanti Path, Nyaya Marg, Vinay Marg and set off towards India Gate via Aurangzeb Road.

The air was salty and dry. I tried a new gel – Maurten – and I don’t know yet what to make of it. I had it slowly, over half hour, as I tend to do when I try new gels, or even food.

From India Gate, clutching a half eaten gel tube in my hand, we made our way down Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, taking a right at the main crossing towards Khan Market, skirting past Lodi Gardens, to Rajesh Pilot Marg, back on Aurangzeb and to Nehru Park.

I waved goodbye to Shikha at Ashoka Hotel, continuing on for a final loop to round off a easy-ish, quick-ish long run for the week.
