Easy Monday today at work with a short intense cello lesson in the late evening.

I’ve lost count of the number of years that I have seen Shikha run. Rose Garden, Sri Fort, Nehru Park. It had been a while since I saw her but here she was turning towards Nyaya Marg.

When you think of effortless running, you think of a runner like Shikha. I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to run with her on many Sunday’s and so we joined each other again. We spoke but not much, instead falling into step with each other again.

Travel back from Bombay to a work day.

Ran again this morning on Marine Drive albeit a slightly shorter run than last evening. Pure joy.

After I submitted my work in the morning, I had a spot of time before I left for Bombay. I jumped on the treadmill and did a short thirty minutes. In the evening, I followed it up with a beautiful and relatively fast run on Marine Drive. Hundreds of people lined the boulevard enjoying the evening skies turn colour.

I am guessing that theoretically it is possible for a professional runner who has been running since childhood to run to the moon during their lifetime. It’s reasonably simple math although it does involve an extraordinary long distance runner who has the ability to run for many decades through relentless training. Certainly, if you couple in daily steps and such, since childhood, it shouldn’t be an impossibility. I will resist to ask AI such questions – because where is the fun in that.

Hence started my journey to the moon – an obeisance to HCL – if only as a very small mote – for their fifty year celebration.

That Nehru Park condescends to the runners of Delhi, should surely be known to us. Surely there is scarcely a city in the world where you can run past dozens of high profile embassies and high commissions. This is one of the most secure areas in Delhi. This isn’t just a handful of runners off sidewalk but hundreds if not thousands of runners during the weekend populating Niti Marg, Nyaya Marg, Vinay Marg, Panchsheel Marg, and Shanti Path. This extends to Akbar Road, Rajpath, Prithviraj and Aurangzeb Road and indeed Race Course too. The ‘route’ for the Prime Minister and other dignitaries are often formed in exactly these roads but the police seem reasonably benevolent or rather condescend to the needs of the everyday running enthusiast. This is New Delhi.

Solid work day and super class.

No run today. It was to be expected because of a late commitment. But again a few games of Pickleball.

With the sun fading and in sweltering weather, I ran in the evening at Nehru Park. The park had many walkers and the occasional runner. Tortuous and with a bit of up and down in a couple of places, it is different than the usual Vinay-Niti-Shanti path loops. People watching, and running four and a bit and I was done.
